Background:

McCarney and Associates is a Canadian, privately owned distributor of Canadian elementary and secondary resources. We specialize in the areas of supplementary resources for history, social studies and geography. We also supply resources in related topics such as Canadian art history, sports, aviation and some novels as it relates to Canadian historical fiction.

Our organization was formed in 1999, in response to the needs of Canadian librarians and teachers, who expressed an interest in a simple, efficient way of accessing Canadian resources to supplement the curriculum. There were resources available but not collectively. It was felt that there was a need to collect, offer and promote Canadian resources that supplement the curriculum and make the job of ‘sourcing’ easier for
librarians and teachers

Our backgrounds include over thirty years of experience in Canadian schools, working closely with teachers, librarians and board members to further the cause of excellence in Canadian education. We pride ourselves in responding to their needs with flexibility and determination.

As those who have supported and followed our progress know, in 2003 we opened our doors to our new offices in the heart of Oakville, ON. We were very excited to open our showroom and distribution centre to better serve our growing clientele.

McCarney and Associates started in 1999 with Peter McCarney, who believed in the importance of providing a solid base of Canadian resources and has a passionate eye for Canadian Literature. He started with a few select boxes of samples that librarians and teachers wanted to see and now we distribute nationally for over 20 Canadian companies as well as publishing to meet the needs of those we serve.

We continue to experience steady and progressive growth over the years and have striven to remain sensitive to our customer’s needs and requests.
